Intenet Music

How has the internet effected the music industry? How has the music industry effected the internet? This question can definitely be asked both ways. While yes, many people talk about how the internet has effected the music industry due to illegal downloading and piracy. But I believe that the music industry has effected the outcome of the internet. Who would have thought that the internet would be used so extensively for up and coming artists who wish to be discovered? Since the Internet's creation, music has become a big part of it. Youtube is a popular website for people to post videos, and now it has become a platform for entertainers to perform for an immensely large audience. In recent years, youtube stars have transitioned to hollywood stars. This blog will discuss those celebrities, how they became famous, and regular people trying to become famous via the internet.

Below is a picture of my youtube page:

  1. I think that YouTube has allowed for a lot of artists that would otherwise not be as popular to spread themselves... not to mention some music that is now viral (such as Gangnam Style) gained a lot of popularity through websites like YouTube!

  2. I think that the Internet has strengthened the music industry. Now many people have been discovered through the internet such as, the one and only JUSTIN BIEBER! I think it is so awesome that we can create our own fame by sharing our music with others online. Love the blog Chris, cannot wait to read your other posts!

  3. The internet has fundamentally changed the way humans view, share, and create music. Regional differences in music are beginning to disappear and a global pop style has begun to emerge. Piracy has done nothing but speed the process (and if you'd like to know more about piracy, you can check out my blog, haha).

However, as a dinosaur, the way I view, share, and create music remains exactly the same.

  4. The internet has changed the music industry and made it more accessible, but that is not always a good thing. The sound modifiers and music programs that accompany the internet have placed a dent in the need of true musicians. People that take years practicing to become a good musician are no longer needed because they have been replaced by the internet.
